The post holder will be responsible for the management, organization and delivery of all administrative services at the outstation. S/he will ensure that the services are performed in an effective and efficient manner and within all legislative, policy and procedural guidelines. S/he will report to the Head of the Grenoble Outstation and have a close working relationship with the central units under the Administrative Director at EMBL main Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany
Qualifications and experience: Applicants should have an advanced university degree in Business Administration, Law or Public Management, have at least 7 years of progressively responsible international experience in a senior administrative position. S/he should be capable of adopting a forward looking and solution oriented attitude within the context of international administration. The post holder should have demonstrated managerial competences (including finance, human resources and legal aspects) in a multi-national environment, enjoy working independently as well as possess excellent communication and networking skills. S/he has an analytical and numerical mindset with attention to detail. Fluency in spoken and written English and French is essential for this position; a working knowledge in German would be an asset.
S/he should have very good computer skills. Knowledge of SAP and of research grant management would be an advantage.

Role :

As one of several secretaries who work closely with this businessman, your role is extremely varied and fast-paced. Further to dealing with internal and external communications, you are responsible for preparing draft reports and project breakdowns, writing up notes and handling complex administrative documents. English is the predominate language spoken in the workplace, but outstanding written language skills in both French and English are essential.

This position is very demanding, and sees you working closely with the businessman on his business trips and meetings, taking notes at high-speed and providing second-to-none administrative and secretarial support.

Your profile :

Long-term experience working as a personal or private assistant at President�s level or similar is essential. You are a native English speaker or of an equivalent linguistic level, and you are completely bilingual in French. You also have experience of using both languages in a business environment. The ideal candidate has a business qualification and is trained in English shorthand.
