Quantitative Analyst Intern - Paris
This position is based in Paris, France.

The role: Quantitative Analyst Intern
The Quantitative Marketing team is an international team of statisticians, who are passionate about analyzing large data sets and building expert systems that improve the performance of our advertisers as well as performing complex statistical analysis and working with engineers to embed models into production systems. The team leads research in 3 main areas: Ad effectiveness - developing methodologies to measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns run on Google, for example to quantify the actual impact of an AdWords campaign on online or in-store sales; Sales optimization - the sales team catering to "long tail" clients have limited resources and our team develops statistical models to help the sales team target those clients most likely to adopt new features or products; Consumer products - analysing the impact of Google's consumer products, for example understanding the true incremental impact on web search of acquiring a new Google Chrome user.
Internship Duration: 6 months
Your CV must be submitted in English indicating when you expect to complete your degree (mm/yy) and your availability.
Responsibilities:
* Design systems to process and analyse very large data sets.
* Research new ways for modeling end user behavior.
* Research new algorithms and methods for optimizing ads quality and revenue.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Students in a Masters/PhD program in statistics or related field. Priority given to students graduating late 2012 or during 2013.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms.
* Experience with statistical software (R, S-Plus, SAS, or similar).
* Experience with databases and scripting languages (such as Python).
* Strong organizational and analytical skills plus demonstrated capacity for understanding strategy.
* Fluency in English.
