The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is an international scientific research organization with the main laboratory situated in Heidelberg, Germany and four Outstations. The EMBL Outstation in Grenoble employs 85 people and has a world-wide reputation for research and service activities in structural molecular biology. It shares a common site with the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL).
The Outstation in Grenoble is seeking to recruit a Administrative Services Manager (Senior Administrative Officer) to head the administrative team at the outstation. The post holder will be responsible for the management, organization and delivery of all administrative services at the outstation. S/he will ensure that the services are performed in an effective and efficient manner and within all legislative, policy and procedural guidelines. S/he will report to the Head of the Grenoble Outstation and have a close working relationship with the central units under the Administrative Director at EMBL main Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany
Qualifications and experience: Applicants should have an advanced university degree in Business Administration, Law or Public Management, have at least 7 years of progressively responsible international experience in a senior administrative position. S/he should be capable of adopting a forward looking and solution oriented attitude within the context of international administration. The post holder should have demonstrated managerial competences (including finance, human resources and legal aspects) in a multi-national environment, enjoy working independently as well as possess excellent communication and networking skills. S/he has an analytical and numerical mindset with attention to detail. Fluency in spoken and written English and French is essential for this position; a working knowledge in German would be an asset.
S/he should have very good computer skills. Knowledge of SAP and of research grant management would be an advantage.
Contract: An initial contract of 3 years´ duration will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
